It’s virtually the same as the swicth more expensive TCN3, less the timer. You could use the camera’s built-in self-timer, but your subject may be long gone until it fires. The RSN3 does not require any batteries which is nice. Comments have been made in other reviews about the construction of the RS. There are times you need to garantee your composition doesn’t budge the slightest bit – the RSN3 is the tool to ensure just that.

The plug locks onto the camera until you tug on the locking collar; it’s simple and very effective. Missing an N3 port, the Rebel series 4xxD models as of this writing are not compatible. The retailers I recommend below are the ones I trust for my own purchases. Other inexpensive third party remote releases don’t have this locking plug. I have always used a wireless shutter release remote, a wireless remote is good to have but the RSN3 is even better. Be the first to review this item.
I did this because in 5 years of heavy professional use I had never once used the timer function of the original, far more expensive, TCN3. Canon A add-on savings. The L-shaped plug however faces degree the wrong way on my 40D, IE the L faces to the front of the camera. Flash, Lighting and Accessories.
Update Unrecognized Zip Code. They are both cheap so get both if you can. So, it’s good for self portraits and test shots but I wanted something that would allow me to still be able to look through the viewfinder behind the camera and line up my shot and get a picture with no camera shake.
It worked like that for a while but then started to intermittently not react to commands. The Canon Remote Switch RSN3 is very light but relatively expensive but valuable to own – it is a valuable piece of kit to have. I have had occasional problems using the wireless remote with not being able to get the shutter to close once open mainly due to line of sight. This ingenious device is a must have if you shoot long exposures.
Tripods, Ball Heads and Accessories. This feature should certainly be one of the main incentives to choose the Canon-made RSN3 over similarly priced third party alternatives.
Well, to my surprise the wireless remote does not work from behind the camera. I did not like the price tag, but know fully well that with Canon you get what you pay for. The build quality is pretty low, canon is making a lot of money on this one.
