While it does have stereotypes in it, it’s still realistic. So while it was relatively entertaining, it just didn’t work for me here. In combination all of this was unbelievable. It was a recount of events in the most obnoxious way, appearing not to have taken any literary skill at all. It does help with my problems That was the best part pdrro the book for me, to see how the kid mind works and how his parents and people around him try to cope with it. Couldn’t even finish it I am not saying it is easy for people like Christopher.
He stopped being charming and innocent, especially inciddente all of his talk of stabbing people with his Swiss Army knife. People who don’t have autism aren’t good at writing about autism.

Written in an easy to read format with helpful diagrams, this book appeared to be an interesting tale that could perhaps shine a little light on the thought processes of autistic teenagers. I will instead be using it as kindling for the next bonfire I start while camping. The story was weak and the case of Dog was very lackadaisical. In the classic book, “Flowers for Algernon,” we come to like the disabled protagonist, Charley Gordon, not because he is similar to us, but because he is different.

Through the first half of the book I did find myself becoming interested, but I think it just took me too long to read considering the size of it. Published September by Salamandra first published July 31st As for the writing everyone is raving about it, I disliked it very much. His differences are what make him special, and when he loses these differences, his character becomes almost unlikeable.
As it is, our expectation of this book was elevated by all the hype and praise. I’m sure that somebody can do a much better job of writing a story from an autistic angle. Maybe I was disappointed because this book was billed as a mystery and darkly comedic, and I didn’t feel like it was either of those things. Why isn’t this explicitly discussed?
