The Master’s degree program in Clinical Psychology is designed to prepare the student for a professional career in clinical psychology in applied settings as well as providing a basis for continued advanced studies.
The program offers a thorough grounding in the theoretical underpinnings of psychopathology, psychotherapy and intensive individual assessment. The student also has various practical opportunities for the application of the theoretical material. This is a two-year program with the first year devoted to completing all of the course requirements, and the second year to preparation of a thesis based on original research and an internship experience 32 credit hours.
The Master’s degree program in Psychological Sciences is designed to prepare the students for an psikolojjsi career by providing a basis for continued advanced studies. The program in Psychological Sciences is for two years: The four sub-areas and potential courses within each area are listed below.
No differences are proposed for the second year. The program provides a solid background in theory and research methods in psychology in general, with an in-depth focus in one of the optional areas. Cognitive Psychology Option C: Developmental Psychology Option D: PSY Advanced Seminar in Statistics is an extra requirement for those candidates who are judged by the program advisor to require further training in statistics.
PSY Ethics is a noncredit requirement for those students who have not taken an equivalent course earlier. The following may qualify as an elective upon approval by the program advisor and consent of the instructor: The program includes a solid background in theory and supervised practical training in clinical assessment and psychotherapeutic interventions.
The program requires the successful completion of 36 credits comprising a total of 9 four credit courses. Candidates are also required to complete a noncredit externship, a doctoral dissertation, and work leading up to the dissertation. For those who have not had such a course before, PSY is a noncredit requirement. The externship, expected to total 20 hours per week, including four hours of supervision, will begin upon starting the program and last until the qualifying exam.
A total of hours of externship are required. Those students who do not receive a “satisfactory” evaluation until the qualifying exam will not be able to take the qualifying exam. There are three concentration areas in the program, adult psychopathology and psychotherapy, child psychopathology and psychotherapy, and family psychopathology and therapy.
The student is expected to take two courses from two of these areas.

Techniques of testing personality dynamics, such as methods of understanding, evaluating, and predicting psychological and social behavior.
Practice in the application of psychological tests and writing reports. The course also deals with planning, guiding and termination of psychological intervention.
Focus on developing interviewing skills with patients with a variety of different psychological problems. Participation in the planning, conducting and evaluation of an actual group. A critical evaluation of measures of metacognition, such as feeling-of-knowing, judgment-of-learning, remember-know judgments, and confidence judgments with an emphasis on their interrelations with object-level cognitive functions such as learning and memory.
Placements include hospitals, university outpatient clinics, residential and other schools.
